Dear Families,

Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with a feast. We tried lots of new foods. There were 16 people at our feast. Thirteen people liked turkey. Twelve people liked ham. Twelve people liked stuffing. Ten people liked mashed potatoes. Five people liked cranberry sauce. Six people liked gravy! The pumpkin pie was delicious. We also had treats from Flower girl!

A special thank you to all our helpers especially Susie and Kim, who made the day perfect! We would love to hear how your family celebrates the long weekend. Share how you celebrate, what foods you like to eat or if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, tell us what holidays are special for your family.

Love,

Grade One

I’d like to appreciate Mrs.Devlin for providing the feast and food that most of North Americans have on Thanksgiving.
Instead of Thanksgiving, we Koreans have ‘Chuseok’, celebrating harvest and full-moon.
It falls on every 15th of August by lunar calendar.
At that time, most of the people go to their home to see their parents and the families get together.
So, a kind of migration and consequently, a lot of traffic jam happens during that holidays.
We share a lot of foods from the new harvest.
Especially, the rice-cake called ‘Songpyun’ is the one among them that we enjoy on ‘Chuseok’.

Hi Grade 1,
We saw the pictures of your celebration of Thanksgiving. The food looks yummy and everybody look so happy. Back home in our country, we don’t have Thanksgiving, instead we have a celebration called Noche Buena. It is a Spanish word referring to the night of Christmas Eve. This usually comes after the entire family has attended the late evening Christmas Eve mass. Often on the table are: fried chicken, ham, spaghetti, hotdog, barbeque, ice cream, pastries, cakes and more. After eating, we open our gifts coming from friends and relatives. It was so much fun. Denali’s favorite is the opening of gifts…

Hello Grade One,

On saturday Spiderman, his mom and sister made a snowman after it had snowed alot. On sunday we went to Spiderman’s uncle house for supper. It was Spiderman’s uncle’s birthday on sunday. Then on Monday we went to watch Toy story and Toy Story 2. It was a long movie and then we went to McDonalds because we go a little hungry. In the evening we to a friend’s house for supper. Spiderman and his sister had alot of fun playing with a stuffed dog. It was a fun weekend all around. Spiderman also met a friend at the movie, Spiderman was very happy to be with his friend. Spiderman also got some cool truck books from his uncle and he is showing a keen interest in reading and is also able to recognize some of the words that he has learnt at school. Spiderman also showed me how he has learnt to do math on his fingers, i am really impressed. I am very happy to see his progress at home. I hope you all study hard and have fun. I will see you on Friday for the fieldtrip.

Love You

My family gets together and we spend the day cooking and playing with the kids.

My family and I like to eat cabbage rolls, perogies, meatballs, stuffing, turkey and lots of pumpkin pie.

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Mmmmm… your feast sure looks and sounds yummy! I wish that I could have been there with you.

My family also got together this weekend for our Thanksgiving dinner. We ate turkey, potatoes, squash, beet rolls, natchinka (cornbread), vegetables and cranberries. We had pumpkin pie for dessert. We also had birthday cake because it was Cullen’s birthday.

I hope that your families all had a great Thanksgiving!

Love,

Shelly

P.S. Happy Diwali to those of you who celebrate it.
