Dear Elsa,

We miss you very much! We have been very busy travelling all across Canada. We flew to Nunavut but had to make an emergency landing on the tundra. We had an awesome pilot! Once we landed we began building shelter. We call it Snow Town. So far we have lots of rooms and a kitchen too!

Learning About Coconuts….

Posted by mrsdevlinsclass | Posted in Class Journal | Posted on September 30, 2013

Dear Families,

We have been learning about coconuts. We like coconuts. They feel hard on the outside and soft and wet on the inside. When you shake them up you can hear the water inside. Today we used a hammer and broke open our coconut. 15 children liked the way it smelled. 2 Children did not like the way it smelled. Tomorrow we are going to try different foods made from coconuts.

Welcome to Grade One!

Wow! The year is off to a busy start. We have already been in school for 10 days! Our theme is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We are learning letters in our room! We are also using our 5 senses to explore coconuts and are using our research skills to learn about coconut crabs. 😀

It is my hope that each day the grade one students will be able to create a post to share our adventures on our blog with our friends and family. We welcome your comments and questions! We are just getting started but come back soon to read all about our adventures!

Twinkle The Elf

Posted by mrsdevlinsclass | Posted in Class Journal | Posted on January 20, 2013

Dear Families,

We had a very mischievous visitor in December. He left a huge mess in our room. His name is Twinkle and he is an elf assigned to Mrs. Devlin’s class. He has made an appearance over the past five years but this year he really outdid himself. Take a look. We had a meeting and decided to write Santa and let him know what Twinkle had been up too.

Happy New Year!

Dear Families,

We have had a wonderful start to the New Year at Harrow! Our room is starting to look beautifl. We are very lucky to be able to share with the Nursery and Kindergarten class while we are being painted. Our pick up and drop offs will continue from the library for the rest of the week. This week we have been busy talking about snowmen! Students have baked a snowman cookie, decorated it and figured out some snowman cookie math. We are also making a What do Snowman do at Night Book, painting snowman pictures, creating a mural and having a mathematical snowball fight! The water table has transformed into a snow table and the sandtable is filled with the parts to build a snowman! I will upload pictures soon!

Outside today we braved the temperatures and went sledding on the hill. It was sooo much fun! Don’t forget on Friday we are on an outdoor field trip. Please make sure your child is dressed to be outside during the day.

Thanks!

Mrs. Devlin

PS…We have lots of movies coming we are just figuring out how to get them off of our iPad and onto the blog!

Dear Families,

Our concert will be held at Bethel Church on Thursday evening at 7:00. Children need to arrive by 6:45. Please do not come sooner as there will be no supervision in the basement classrooms until then. Children need to wear their holiday best. This is a dress up occasion.

😆

On Friday it is pajama day. Children are invited to dress up in their pajamas. Please have your child wear a freshly laundered pair to school. Nightgowns should have a pair of shorts on underneath. Please call if you have any questions.

Thanks,
