Dear Families,

We went to the farm to learn all about animals and their senses. We learned what they need to survive. We had such a great time. We milked a goat, rode a pony, held baby kittens, chicks and lambs. We even got to see a sheep sheared. We got to keep some of the wool. It was really cold but we still had a great time. Thank you to Morning Sound Farm  Check out the Flippagram below of our adventures!

A Day at The Museum!

Dear Families,

We had a wonderful time at the museum. It was lots of fun. We learned about many different homes and shelters in Canada long ago. We learned all homes have a place to sleep, prepare food and have fun. It was exciting to go into the Tipi and spend time in the Urban gallery. (Mrs Devlin will add pictures soon!)

In the afternoon we were at the science gallery. We learned about our five senses and made ice cream from liquid nitrogen. It was delicious! We spend out afternoon making dinosaur animations, building race cars, creating rivers and learning about sound, gravity, wind, and magnets!

Today we say goodbye to Mrs Devlin for a few weeks and we welcome Ms. Bunting as our guest teacher. Ms. N our student teacher also begins her block. Mrs Devlin’s challenge is to have each grade one write a comment on our museum post and share their favourite part of the day!

Dear Families,

We are having fun in grade one. We love working on our smart table. You can make music on it. You can practice you numbers and build pipes.

We are learning about coconuts and coconut crabs. Today we described coconuts. Have you ever seen a coconut crab? They are really cool.

Our Earth Needs Your Help!

Dear Harrow Families,

Harrow! Help! We need to save our Earth. It is in trouble. We must shrink our foot print. When we shrink our foot print the Earth will be a better place for our children’s children.

You can save the water by turning off the top when you are brushing your teeth. You can take a shower instead of a bath. When you are washing dishes or clothing in machines you can make sure the loads are full. When it rains you can collect the rain water to water your plants.

You can keep our air clean by NOT SMOKING!  You can sort your garbage by recycling some, composting some and even better, thinking of a way you can re-use something. Instead of driving a car you could walk or take a bus.

We are hoping you can help us spread our message to the world. Can you comment and share your ideas too? We can’t wait to hear your ideas.

Dear Families,

Today we met with the Eco kids at Harrow School. Our Eco kids are a dedicated groups of grade 4, 5, and 6 students who teach all of us how to be sustainable. Today our Eco kids along with Susie, our dedicated leader invited us to the gym for a game of trivia. We learned lots.

These are just a few of the interesting facts we learned:

There are 41 flags on our school fence representing all of the different countries our students have come from.

The rose represents Valentine’s Day.

It is never okay to waste water it is an important resource.

The Eagle represents love.

When we cut down a tree it is always important to replace it with a new one.

Have a wonderful weekend! We will see you Monday!

What a busy day in grade 2. We started our day with our first yoga class. It was list of fun. We pretended to be squirrels stashing and hiding across that turned into trees. It felt great to start our day with a stretch. We worked really hard to finish our first drafts of our class story. We did it. There were som amazing writers today in grade two. Hats off to Aika who kept our Twitter moving with all her fantastic tweets about our learning. She spotted exciting things all over our classroom today!

Have a wonderful weekends friends and stay warm!

Today at school Mrs Mac Gillivray told us about our new skating rink in our school yard. We learned about skating safely. We will need to wear a neck guard and a helmet. The school will be open on Tuesday after school for an hour. Information is available on our school website. Look under the Harrow spotlight.

Dear Families,

Today at school we were very busy working on our holiday writing. We went to DreamBox and had a chance to try out some of the games on our blog. Today we say Good bye to one of our friends who is traveling India. We are going to try and ask questions and keep in touch while he visits with his family. We want to learn new things about India. Watch for our posts!
